Application Instructions

Instructions for applicants to the Design, Technology & Society graduate program are below.

Please review and follow the instructions carefully. Applicants who do not observe the procedure completely will not be considered.

Please note that the proposal evaluation may take approximately 2 months and start the process as early as possible.

Application Instructions for MA and PhD Programs

  1. Please carefully review the program website for announcements and information about ongoing projects.
  2. Contact the coordinator (or one of the coordinators) for the project(s) in which you are interested or the faculty members of with whom you would like to study, by specified deadlines. Include your CV, online portfolio, ALES/GRE, TOEFL/ ÜDS/ KPDS/ IELTS scores, and GPA.
  3. If the project coordinator or faculty member accepts you as a potential applicant, he/she will approve the preparation of your research proposal.
  4. Following the approval, accordingto the instructions on the research proposal instructions page, develop your proposal under the supervision of the project coordinator / faculty member. Developing you proposal may take at least two months.
  5. Submit your research proposal to Turnitin for an originality check.
  6. Receive your approval document from the project coordinator/ faculty member stating that your final research proposal is appropriate.
  7. Following the approval, please submit the documents listed below, observing the specified deadlines:
    • Research proposal document (Word and PDF format)
    • Research proposal approval document from project coordinator/ faculty member (PDF format)
    • Originality check document for the research proposal from Turnitin
    • Links to your online CV and portfolio
    • An official transcript from your university. (A minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00 will be required.)
    • Proof of English language proficiency – TOEFL (IBT min. 80, CBT min. 213, PBT min. 550), ÜDS (min. 87), KPDS (min. 87), or IELTS (min. 6.5)
    • ALES (min. 70 equally weighted) scores, or (for non-Turkish citizens) GRE scores (min. 685/154 Quantitative)
    • 2 letters of recommendation
